About the Role
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production equipment across our Upper Hutt site. You’ll lead preventative maintenance initiatives, respond to breakdowns, and contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting capital projects, managing contractors, and ensuring all work meets strict food safety and health & safety standards.
This role is full time, 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday and includes participation in a 24/5 on-call roster, providing support for breakdowns outside of standard hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver preventative maintenance programmes to minimise downtime
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults
- Provide technical support for root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Assist in the management of spare parts inventory and workshop organisation
- Identifying continuous improvement and lean initiatives
- Ensure engineering practices are maintained to compliance with GMP, food safety, and H&S requirements
- Coordinate and manage contractors on site
About You
You’re a proactive and solutions-focused engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You enjoy problem-solving, take ownership of your work, and are always looking for ways to improve systems and processes.
You’ll bring:
- A relevant engineering qualification (trade or tertiary)
- Electrical certification (beneficial)
- 3-5 years’ experience in FMCG or food manufacturing
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems
- A solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
